Wood Finishing Rags

In this video i talk about my thought process for choosing a wood finish, the order of which wood finishes should be applied, compatibility of wood finishes and my favourite finishes, and what. On most surfaces you wipe on the finish and just let it dry. if your project has lots of hard-to-access surfaces, try a different approach. apply the finish to a limited area, then wipe it off after a few minutes using dry rags. this way, you don’t have to worry about accidentally smearing finish on an area you’ve already covered. just wipe. Are you discouraged with the quality of finish you get on wood? power buffing can fix that. watch this simple technique in action and you won't be disappointed any more. i discovered this method.

As with all wood finishes, good results depend on smooth, clean wood surfaces, but this goes double with clear finishes such as polyurethane. sand your wood with at least 220-grit sandpaper. for open-grain woods (like oak, ash, or walnut), you can apply a wood grain filler before the polyurethane, to create an ultra-smooth finished surface.. Another option is to simply enhance the natural color of the wood by skipping the stain and just applying the finish. if you choose this route, just skip steps 6, 7, and 8. for the final clear finish, wipe-on polyurethane is a perfect choice—it’s essentially the same stuff as brush-on poly and offers the same excellent protection..
